4 Things Your Eyes Can Reveal About You

A popular aphorism says “beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder.” Many have held this to be true for years. Even many more are yet to discover that not just beauty can be seen through the eyes; the eyes divulge more information far exceeding the importance of beauty. Courage, fear, beliefs, emotions, appetite, and a whole world of both lies and truth lie also in the eyes of the beholder. Here are some startling facts an individual’s eyes can reveal about him or her.

1.         DRINKS?

Never get into a drinking bet or competition when you’re at the bar drinking with a friend or acquaintance whose eye colour is brown, blue, grey, or any light colour. You’ll lose your money plus get drunk as hell. A research conducted at Georgia University revealed that people who have light eye colour drink two times better than those whose eye colour is dark.

2.         FLIRTING

To recognize when someone’s a flirt is just plain simple as far as the eyes are concerned. When the heart is touched by emotional feelings, the pupils dilate entirely on their own. You might most likely catch yourself momentarily gazing for some seconds at the lips of the object of your desire.

3.         SPOT THE LIE

Although humans have perfected the art of pretence to an amazing degree, you still can distinguish moments when to trust a person from moments when he or she is lying simply by looking in their eyes. This might have been the reason why the eyesare referred to as the windows of the soul.

Since you started reading this, you’ve blinked 14 times. It has been observed that adults have the tendency to blink one time for every 5 seconds, depending of course on how windy the atmosphere is or how healthy the eyes are. If that is the case, it means we blink over 7 million times per annum! Amazing isn’t it.

The eyes are endowed with the powerful ability of differentiating several classes of different colours. It can identify over 10 million colour tones.

While you’re reading this article write now on the screen of your device, you hardly took notice of the movements made by your eyes. Your eyes have been darting through the page in little movements known as saccades. The brief pauses you made to clearly understand a particular line are called fixations. Researchers are working on understanding how the pattern of our eye movement may correspond with the way in which we learn and also the kinds of mind people possess.

According to Dr. Andrew Iwach, associate clinical professor of ophthalmology, University of California and executive director of the Glaucoma Center of San Francisco:  “The eyes truly are unique real estate. They’re the only place in the body where you can see a bare nerve, a bare artery, and a bare vein without doing any cutting.  And the disease processes we see occurring in the eye are probably occurring in the rest of the body.”
