You finally got the chance to hold your baby after the long nine-month wait. The pregnancy probably did a number on your body and the whole motherhood thing doesn’t give you the time to get out or a good reason to wear nice clothes. After all, the baby will just spit up on them.
After delivering your baby you are probably very tired and just want a break but you don’t really recognize the person you see on the other side of the mirror. Most women are bound to add weight after delivery and the constant pressure to eat so as to have enough milk for breastfeeding may keep your weight on a little longer.
Much as beauty is not just skin deep a woman gains a little more confidence when she loves how she looks physically. There are those who love the curves they gained due to pregnancy while others may need to lose a few to get back to a healthy weight and beautiful size. Here are a few pointers to get your confidence levels higher and leave you feeling fabulous.
Breastfeeding
The amount of calories that are used up when exclusively breastfeeding is equivalent to those which are burnt when riding a bike uphill for an hour every day. That is between 200 and 500 calories. Needless to say this boosts the speed at which you shed the excess weight.
It also helps keep off the weight longer thus maintaining your desired weight becomes less difficult. Even for the small-bodied women who added weight after birth but would like to keep it that way, it maintains a balance for as long as your BMI is right. It won’t drain you unnecessarily.
Eat healthy
Diet is an important part of feeling good. Some foods spike up the production of feel-good hormones and instantly improve your mood. Include a good amount of fruits, vegetables and water to keep you from feeling bloated and sluggish while giving you the nutrients that you need.
Exercise
This is not the easiest thing to start for most people. The busy mothering schedule may also weigh down on you and keep you from hitting the gym and such. You can begin slowly by taking a 20-minute walk around the neighborhood and increase it as time goes by. You can also opt to walk short distances instead of driving and taking the stairs instead of the elevator. They will all add up to something meaningful compared to having a sedentary lifestyle.
Get your hair done
It will leave you looking good and feeling great and this will do wonders for your confidence. A confident woman will be able to tackle any challenge that comes her way and raise her family better.
Massage
A massage will relax you and bring on a rush of feel-good hormones. A mother needs such physical relaxation because it can get very tiring on the mother hood train.
Timeout
Take some time and just be with yourself. Take yourself out for coffee, go for a solitary walk or just spend some time gazing at the sky. Do something that makes you happy and it will show on your face and in the spring in your step.
Childbirth and mothering can drain you of energy which in turn leaves you feeling less sexy. It can easily interfere with your sex life and before you realize it, 8 months have gone by since the last time you were intimate with your husband.
All these methods can make you feel good about yourself and therefore more attractive. The more attractive you feel the more likely it is that you will want your man. It will go a long way in strengthening your relationship and it will remind you that you are still a woman and not a milk-dispenser!
