Hundreds of mourners wearing pink said their final goodbyes to tragic six-year-old Alesha MacPhail at her funeral today.
The schoolgirl, who was found dead at the start of the summer holidays while staying with relatives on the Isle of Bute, was laid to rest at a ceremony where mourners came dressed in her favourite colour.
A 16-year-old boy was charged with rape and murder following the discovery of Alesha’s body in woodland on July 2.
Alesha’s father Robert MacPhail and uncle Calum MacPhail joined a group wearing kilts to carry her coffin to a waiting horse-drawn hearse following the ceremony.
A beautiful pink and white wreath saying ‘Daughter’ and a white wreath saying ‘Sister,’ which was covered in multi-coloured flowers and butterflies, could be seen outside the service at MacGregor Coats Funeral Home in Coatbridge, North Lanarkshire.
