Healthy Protein Pancakes

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. This is because it fills you up and gives you all the energy you need to get you through the morning and all its activities. Morning is when you use up most of your brainpower so be sure to have a healthy breakfast.

Pancakes are a common breakfast food but some choose to ditch them because of the wheat and all. Making small changes to the ingredients in this recipe will give you that yummy and wholesome breakfast that you have been looking for and the push you need to get going.

Ingredients

  • ¼ cup oatmeal
  • 3 egg whites
  • ½ ripe banana
  • 1/3 cup water
  • A pinch of cinnamon
  • 1 scoop of protein powder
  • Oil for cooking
  • 1 tablespoon of honey

Method

  • Put all the ingredients (except the honey) in a blender and blend it until it becomes thick, creamy and smooth.
  • Take some oil and grease a pan with it.
  • When the pan is hot enough take a ladle and spoon some of the batter onto the pan. Keep it there until you see some bubbles forming on the surface of the pancake and then flip the pancake over to the other side.
  • Be careful not to let the pancakes burn. Repeat the process until all the batter is done.
  • Drizzle some honey on the pancakes and they are ready to serve.

You may want to add a slight twist to your breakfast and add some fruit to it. Pancakes and whole fruit may not exactly be doable (but anything is possible, right?) but you can try changing it up. Have the fruits in a sauce or syrup instead. You can have a strawberry sauce with your pancakes!

Making this is very simple. Take some ripe strawberries and wash them well. Remember to take the tops off if they are not off already. Cut them up into pieces and place them in a pan or pot. Add some lemon zest to them and some sugar to taste. Those that would like to keep the healthy bug going can use stevia instead. Add some water and place it on the stove. Boil this mixture until it becomes thick and it is ready to go on your pancakes.

You can serve it by layering pancakes. Place a pancake and then take the strawberry sauce and spread it on the pancake. Place another pancake and spread another layer. Keep going until you feel the mountain is high enough! Drizzle some honey on the top pancake and dig in.

All the ingredients used in this recipe are wholesome and healthy. The banana and cinnamon come with a sweet flavor and the strawberry sauce makes everything else pop. Egg whites and protein powder account for your protein needs, oatmeal for your carbohydrates and the strawberries and banana for your vitamins. This makes it a completely balanced meal. The result of mixing all this is a burst of flavors in your mouth very early in the morning! You may be forgiven for feeling guilty after having such a delicious treat early in the day.

You can make variations to this recipe and choose a fruit sauce of your choice. The idea is to make it as healthy as possible and to keep you full enough for the better part of the morning. This recipe takes 15 minutes at most so it will not eat into your morning as you prepare to rush out for your day. Whip up something healthy and fast every morning and you will live longer to tell the tale.
