In Benue State, a 40-year-old housewife named Charity Upev and her son Tertsea have been remanded in custody for allegedly killing their in-law Fanen by beating him to death over meat.
Charity and her son were accused by the police of criminal conspiracy and intentional murder.
Deputy Chief Magistrate Roseline Iyorshe of Makurdi? The court rejected their argument, postponed consideration of the subject until February 8, and moved the case file.
The Divisional Police Officer of the “E” Division Police Station in Makurdi received information that Charity and her son had assaulted Fanen, her in-law who was residing with her, on January 24. This information was presented to the court earlier by the prosecution’s attorney, Inspector Jonah Uletu.
According to the prosecutor, Charity stated that her mother-in-law had stolen meat from the soup pot.
According to the police, Fanen was knocked out after the assault and taken to the hospital where he was treated but passed away.
The prosecution said that the act violated sections 97 and 222 of the 2004 Benue Penal Code Laws.
