Plaintiff Arianna Davis claims that the Grammy-winning artist made a veiled remark about her weight and coerced her into interacting with unclothed performers at a strip club.
Lizzo has responded to accusations of sexual harassment and body shaming in a lawsuit brought by three former troupe members, stating, “I am not the antagonist.” She expressed her dismay and difficulty over the recent days, where her values and integrity have been questioned, and her character scrutinized. Her response was shared across her social media platforms. Shortly after Lizzo’s statement, the accusers appeared on UK television for the first time since making their claims public on August 1st, expressing shock and disappointment at Lizzo’s reply.
Crystal Williams, one of the accusers, shared her feelings about Lizzo’s response during an appearance on Channel 4, saying, “Initially, it just added to my disappointment with how I was treated.”
According to the legal documents, Lizzo (whose real name is Melissa Viviane Jefferson) allegedly pushed her dancer, Arianna Davis, to engage with a nude performer at a strip club in Amsterdam. The lawsuit also contends that the Grammy winner subjected her dancers to a degrading 12-hour re-audition process and cultivated a hostile working environment.
