Man dies after his family members allegedly refused to approve blood transfusion

A Nigerian lady identified as Chika Okparaeke has taken to social media to narrate the sad story of a man who died because his family members refused to approve blood transfusion for him due to their religious beliefs.

According to the lady, the sad incident occurred after the man, who was a Jehovah’s witness member and a banker in Jos, had an accident on his way home from work. She stated the man was immediately rushed to a private hospital where he was advised to do a blood transfusion due to the loss of blood he suffered after the accident occurred.

Okparaeke said the banker’s wife and family members who are also Jehovah’s Witness members refused to approve the blood transfusion. She explained that the doctors tried their best to convince the family and pastors but they refused to give consent. The lady further noted that the story became more heartbreaking after the man begged his family to give consent for the blood transfusion.
