Man in court for allegedly causing wife’s miscarriage by kicking her in the stomach over food

One Kalvin Amwai was brought before the Kibera law court in Nairobi, Kenya for terminating his wife’s pregnancy with a kick over food on May 31, at about 9pm in his house at Kabiria area within Dagoreti Sub-County.

The man reportedly became angry after his wife told him there was no food upon arriving home at night adding that before his wife could explain, the man threw punches and kicks thereby injuring her seriously.

His wife who was five months old pregnant was rushed to the hospital and she had miscarriage. The matter was reported at the police station, prompting his arrest.

Awai pleaded not guilty before the Chief Magistrate Charles Mwaniki and was granted a bond of Ksh300,000 pending pre-trial on June 17.
