The month of August is believed by many to be a month that bears bad news and when it comes to the music industry in Nigeria this could be quite true. 20 years ago, in the month of August, the world lost a legend whose music has paved the way for the young successful Nigerian artists we hear today.

Fela was not just a musician but also an activist and he used his music to pass messages across, something that young artists should emulate. No doubt he still lives on in every afrobeat music.
