Veteran media personality, Soni Irabor, couldn’t be more happy as he celebrated his wife, CEO of Genevieve Magazine, Betty Irabor on her 60th birthday. Betty clocked 60 yesterday .
The ace broadcaster, took to his Instagram page to celebrate his wife of 34 years, he wrote:
It was one July evening, in 1982, at a party she organized for her company, when I met a lovely, cool looking young lady, whose eyes sparkled and radiated such genuine beauty that took my breath away! When I found my breath back, I blurted out to my friend: “That’s the girl I’m going to marry!” Today it is that same breath that I use to say to her through you all, who behold this picture: “Thank you for sticking with me, Bettina dear!” You have maintained your beauty and our love that I am immensely grateful to God for making you my life partner. HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEAR! Yes you are 60 today, you are still my sweet sixteen. The children and I cherish you. God bless and keep you with long happy, healthy, prosperous and spirit filled years ahead. ENJOY!!
Betty in an old interview talked about marrying before 30 saying:
“I don’t think women should be worried about being married before 30 because many women before that age have not yet gone through the school of life which prepares them for marriage.”
In an IG post a while back, Betty also revealed that her mother turned down marriage proposals for her.
Toast to single mothers. I would really love to raise a toast to all single mums out there. I was raised by a single mum and believe me, I know what it is for a woman to be both mum and dad to a child…. Mum raised 4 of us by being resourceful; in the day time, she worked at Nigeria Tobacco company and nighttime at NITEL(don’t know what it was called then) and in between she was a seamstress. And when a prospective affluent husband/step dad came along she refused his marriage proposal and a chance to have a life because the package he offered her didn’t include us; her children! He wanted her exclusive of us…perhaps he wanted her to drop us off at an orphanage or something like that. Of course it was no deal for mum!!! Who would accept such an offer any way? It’s not a walk in the park for single mothers and I think every man who deliberately makes a single mother of a woman because he cannot stand up to his responsibilities deserves a special day of reckoning before God. Here’s toasting to every woman doubling up as mom and dad to their kids because of a man who isn’t man enough to to be a real dad. – Betty Irabor
