True Life Story: Be Very Careful Who You Trust With Your Relationship

Imagine moving to a new city for your mandatory youth service, only to find yourself stuck in a tricky love triangle that ends up involving your own flesh and blood. This is the story of a young woman, who we’ll call Aisha, and her aunt’s shocking betrayal.

Aisha had been posted to Lagos, Nigeria, and was staying with her father’s cousin’s daughter, whom she affectionately called Aunty Ari. Ari was a successful single woman who worked for an airline and lived a luxurious lifestyle, complete with wealthy suitors and flashy cars.

But despite all the glitz and glamour, Aisha couldn’t help but feel a bit lost in this new environment. She had left behind a man named Francis, who was 11 years older than her and from her hometown of Owerri. They had been dating on and off for three years, and while she loved him deeply, the age difference made her hesitant about committing to him fully.

Feeling torn and unsure, Aisha confided in Aunty Ari about her feelings for Francis. Unfortunately, instead of offering supportive advice, Ari encouraged Aisha to break things off with Francis, warning her that he was too old and might treat her poorly in the long run.

Meanwhile, Aisha had met someone new at her church who was just three years older than her and eager to marry her. This left Aisha caught between two potential suitors, unsure of which path to take.

In the end, Aunty Ari convinced Aisha to go for the younger man, urging her to cut ties with Francis for good. Heartbroken and confused, Aisha took Ari’s advice and severed all contact with Francis, telling him never to come near her again.

Little did Aisha know, her aunt had ulterior motives for steering her in this direction. It wasn’t long before Aisha discovered that Ari was actually dating and sleeping with Francis behind her back! She was shocked and hurt, but Ari tried to downplay the situation, saying that she had realized Francis wasn’t such a bad guy after all and that they had fallen in love. To make matters worse, Aunty Ari even got pregnant with Francis’ child and pressured him into paying her bride price, effectively making him her husband.

Aisha couldn’t help but feel like she had been deceived and used by her own family member. She wished she had followed her own heart and not let Ari’s selfish advice cloud her judgment. But now, all she could do was pick up the pieces and try to move on from this painful experience.
