Having a miscarriage is one of the most devastating things in life. It`s something that no couple deserves to go through, but that does not mean that you shouldn’t try for another baby after a miscarriage. You are more likely to experience a miscarriage in the first 24 weeks of your pregnancy. Therefore, it is important to know that when you experience this, you are not the only one.

According to statistics, almost 1 out of 8 women experience miscarriage. The good thing is that, a majority of them who actually experience miscarriages and try again go on to have very healthy pregnancies and babies. Trying again for another baby comes with a lot of emotions and physical side effects to many. Before you try out for another baby, there are a number of things that you need to put in mind. First and most importantly, you must be in good physical and mental health.

How long you should wait before try for another baby

Most specialists recommend that you wait until your next monthly periods. After experiencing the first period after the miscarriage, there’s no precise time that you are required to wait until you try out for another baby. However, some GPs will say that you have to wait for 3 months whereas other will recommend 6 months.

It is important that you give yourself time to think over whether you need another baby or not. In many cases, people rush to try out another baby in a move to numb the pain they had.

According to medical specialists, the ideal time that you need to wait is at least three menstrual cycles. That way, you`ll have gained enough strength, both emotionally and physically before trying again.

It’s also important that you check with your general practitioner. The GP will tell you whether you are in the right physical and emotional state to say you are trying out for another baby.  Most GPs will recommend that you completely recover from the emotional stress of losing the baby, especially if it was your first trial.

According to research, stress of unresolved grief has the ability to affect your fertility or even interfere with the ability of you giving birth in the future.

Never blame yourself after a miscarriage. It is also important that your man be in the right emotional state before you try again. In many cases, people forget that they share the grief together with their partners. When you understand that you are not alone, it is easy to get over it because you`ll get all the support from your partner.

You should also not blame your partner. Miscarriages happen for so many reasons and it is important to note that in case it’s going to happen, there is little that you can do to prevent it from happening.

What you can possibly do to improve your chances of conceiving again

Doing all things possible to boost your chances of conceiving again will help you in preventing miscarriages in the future. To ensure a have a healthy pregnancy, please ensure that you do the following:

  •          Completely avoid alcohol and cigarettes
  •          Don`t put on too much weight or lose a lot
  •          Research shows that taking too much caffeine increases your chances of having a miscarriage.
  •           Eat foods with high quantities of omega 3fats.
  •          Get supplements or diets with iron, vitamin D, zinc and calcium.

Among the things that you need to watch out for include:

  •          Ensure that you notice signs that indicate things are not going well with your pregnancy
  •          Watch out for pain in the lower back, fleck of grey matter in vaginal mucus and clots in case you are bleeding.
